INTRODUCTION TO FANTASY SPORTS
THE NEXT BIG THING IS HERE
Fantasy sports are online games where users, often a group of friends, assemble (or “draft”) virtual teams of real professional athletes. Whoever has the combination of players with the best stats wins.
This game, which started off as a fun activity between friends, has evolved into an online juggernaut. About 56 million people play fantasy sports in North America with a total of $18 billion spent on fantasy sports annually. With the industry’s overnight growth into a multi billion dollar enterprise, it is no wonder that this industry is called “the next big thing.”
SPORTS BETTING FOR MILLENNIALS
With the accessibility of fantasy sports combined with general skepticism towards games of chance, Millennials would rather play fantasy sports than bet on sports. Of the approximately 56 million people who play fantasy sports in North America, roughly 18% are 18 to 24.

Fantasy Sports are games drawn to young millennials because they require skill rather than outright gambling. Rather than betting on specific teams or spreads, which is largely based on luck, fantasy sports takes a considerable amount of knowledge and skill in order to succeed. Successful players require knowledge and familiarity with the sports, players, and teams.
TRADITIONAL FANTASY SPORTS
An estimated 56.8 million people in the U.S. and Canada play Fantasy Sports. Fantasy Sports enables friends to put their sports knowledge to the test against each other, usually for money.
HOW TRADITIONAL FANTASY SPORTS ARE PLAYED
The goal of the game is to accumulate more fantasy points than anyone else in your league, either on a week-to-week basis or throughout the entire season.
Over the course of the season, users can manage and modify their teams by trading players with other team managers, picking up un-drafted players, and deciding which players are in their starting lineup and bench.
One Draft with unique players
All action is set in motion on Draft Day. Before the season starts, users in a fantasy league draft real-life players onto their fantasy team.
The players available to be drafted are unique. This means that no two users can have the same players. This constraint limits traditional fantasy sport contests to co-workers, friends and family.
Every subsequent move a user makes after the draft is based on the initial team they drafted. During the season, the statistics accrued by the actual athletes translate into “Fantasy Points”.
SEASON LONG CONTESTS
Players use the same teams all season. With the champion declared at the end.
DRAFT UNQIUE PLAYERS
Unique players means that no two contestants can have the same players.
SMALL TOURNAMENTS WITH FRIENDS
Small contests played with friends, family, or co-workers.
WEEKLY TEAM MANAGEMENT
PICKUP, BENCH, AND TRADE PLAYERS TO IMPROVE YOUR TEAM DURING THE SEASON.
DAILY FANTASY SPORTS
The popularity of Fantasy Sports combined with the growing need for immediate gratification, gave birth to Daily Fantasy Sports. In traditional fantasy sports, there is only one winner after a long and grueling season. In Daily Fantasy Sports, you can be crowned a winner every single night.
Salary Cap Draft
Contestants have a budget called a “Salary Cap” to “buy” a full team of players. Each available player to be drafted is assigned a fantasy “salary” based on their skill, performance, and trending statistics. The contestants then have to pick a full team within their budget.
By having a salary cap draft instead of a seasonal player draft, fantasy sports contests could be daily or weekly depending on the games.

The biggest departure from Traditional Fantasy Sports was the allowance of non-unique fantasy teams. Contestants were no longer constrained to picking the only athletes available after others had been drafted. With this new method of playing fantasy sports, each athlete could be drafted infinite times by contestants. The allowance of non-unique teams also meant that Daily Fantasy operators could have massive contests.
SALARY CAP DRAFT
Player draft is removed in exchange for salary to “buy” players.
Contestants in same contest can select the same players.

SIMPLE FANTASY SPORTS
Fantasy Sports have come a long way since its humble beginnings. No longer limited by season long commitments or unique teams, contests exploded in size. Now thousands of people can compete against each other and prize-pools can reach up to a million dollars and more. Yet there still was room for improvement.
Fantasy Network took the basic concept of Daily Fantasy Sports, and streamlined the experience. We removed the salary-cap game and did away with the tired, cookie-cutter UI. In its place is a unique user experience that encourages more games to be played and greater player value.
Fast contest entry / rotating player pool
We have concentrated our player pool to mainly star players. This is a big departure from traditional salary cap DFS where a full pool of players are available. With Simple DFS, contestants pick their players without spending hours and hours sorting through too many options. Player selection also rotates. This creates an effective call-to-action to increase contest entry and engagement by 36%.
We focused on creating an engaging UI to give users a great visual experience. Furthermore, this UI makes it considerably easier to enter a contests from a mobile device. Our games are responsive to all devices and people can play Simple DFS games no matter where they are.
Increased mobile compatibility also brings the 2nd screen experience with DFS to the next level. As people use their phone more and more while watching TV, Simple DFS uses this to show live stats, commentary, and metrics during a game.
regulatory planning and compliance
Daily Fantasy Sports has become explosively popular in North America. In fact, there is hardly a week that passes without DFS being in the news. This is due to the fact that over 50 million people play Daily Fantasy Sports yet there is little regulation or consumer protection. Simple DFS is built with anticipation of the regulatory rules that will be enforced in North America and around the world.
